Life on the farm was one of self-sufficiency, as well as, a need to rely on others. Growing up on a small farm in Northern Michigan during the 1950's left the author with some fond memories and a few callouses on his hands and on his behindI found "Citizen Cyborg" quite readable, and James Hughes brings up a number of interesting arguments against both the bio-Luddite and libertarian-Extropian views of human transformation through technological means. Swan was a simple man with simple tastes and pleasures, and this comes across through the text and the art.
